The system allows opening and closing without the need for a coin, meaning the user will lose their coin if they do not vacate the locker when appropriate, ensuring locker availability.

Collection and Collateral Modes Explained
In the classic Collection format, the user gains access to a free locker (one with a key already in the door) by inserting a coin into the receptacle on the inside of the door.
This format is an ideal way to profit from locker rentals and recoup costs associated with lost keys.
The Collateral mode operates in the same way, only the user can re-collect their deposited coin on returning to the locker and inserting their key.
